There are many things that can inspire our choice of birthday flowers for those we love. We may wish to create a bouquet of their favorite variety, or have a design created which celebrates their favorite color. Did You Know? The iconic blue sapphire is perhaps the most cherished of the sapphires, but this gemstone also can be found in a variety of other colors from green to purple to orange! However, there is no such thing as a red sapphire –  they are known as rubies. 

Although there are not a lot of flowers which exhibit the vivid blue of sapphire, the ones that do are exquisite! Ask our floral designers about adding blue delphinium (see above), blue iris, or orchids to your arrangements. Although blue hydrangea is a paler blue, it blends beautifully with other blue florals perfect for September birthday flowers.

You may also choose a bouquet of September asters. These hardy flowers bloom in late summer and into fall, exhibiting a wide range of vibrant colors. Asters are similar to the daisy in appearance and are very popular both as a standalone bouquet and as a part of a mixed arrangement. Their star-like appearance is readily recognizable and are often seen in fresh cut arrangements.
