National Puppy Day was established to raise awareness of the major issues facing the United States' canine population, namely puppy mills and overpopulation. With over 4 million dogs surrendered to shelters annually, the organizers strive to encourage people to choose adoption or rescue when adding a new furry member to their family. Every year, the celebration of International Women's Day puts a spotlight on the positive impacts of women worldwide, highlighting achievements and strides made against inequality. Floral Design Day began as a simple way to honor the birthday of Carl Rittner, the founder of Rittner School of Floral Design in Boston. Rittner was one of the first people to teach designing flowers and natural elements as an art form, and the industry owes a debt of gratitude to his dedication and passion in this area. At Ah Sam Florist, we thought that a great way to celebrate this special day would be to shine the spotlight on one of our amazing local designers  - meet John W.
