National Puppy Day was established to bring the major issues facing the canine population of the United States, namely puppy mills and overpopulation, to the forefront. With over 4 million dogs surrendered to shelters annually, the organizers strive to encourage people to choose adoption or rescue when adding a new furry family member. At Ah Sam Florist, we love our pups, no matter how old. We thought we would use this occasion to celebrate our dogs, as well as some of the causes we support that involve these lovable animals that bring so much joy to our homes and communities. Get ready to meet Stella, Tequila, and Fox.
There is no shortage of dog lovers at Ah Sam Florist. First, we’d like to introduce you to Stella, who belongs to Stacey. Look at that sweet face!
While many people think that rescue animals may have been surrendered due to behavior problems, quite the opposite is true. Over 90% of dogs in shelters are there through no fault of their own, and they are some of the most loving, grateful, kind-spirited animals you will ever meet. Such is the case with Fox, on the left, who belongs to employee Molly; and Tequila, who makes a home with Ellie. Both are rescue dogs.
Ah Sam Florist is also proud to support local organizations. Lend a Hand was designed to continuously give something back to our community by donating $2.00 from each online order to a participating local effort. One of our participating organizations is the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA.
We also work with Canine Companion, a non-profit organization which enhances the lives of people with disabilities by providing highly trained assistance dogs. Ah Sam Florist volunteers by warehousing and distributing newborn puppy kits.
There is no doubt we have a special place in our hearts for our puppies. That is why we provide floral arrangements and products designed to celebrate them and to thank those who work tirelessly to rescue, foster, train, and home these amazing dogs.
If you are an animal lover, Ah Sam Florist is the San Mateo florist for you! We not only hold our own pets close to our hearts, but we work alongside the community to bring a better quality of life to both the dogs and the people who need and love them.
