Every year, Pantone announces its Color of the Year to much anticipation, and every year people the design world over have a lot to say about it. The company arrives at their decision after an international meeting-of-the-color-minds, and the selection is meant to embody the current state of affairs in the world – the cultural zeitgeist, if you will. So what does 2018’s color, Ultra Violet, say about the world right now? We here at Ah Sam Florist note that it’s an intriguing, jewel-toned hue, with a bit of a mystical quality. We look forward to bringing it into our homes this year.
Purple can be hard to pull off in decor, but as the year goes on, we anticipate many examples of how to do it correctly. In the meantime, flowers are an excellent way to get started. They beautifully showcase the color without requiring that you fully commit to it. You can feel as though you’re updating your space, too. Despite so many other gorgeous blooms in the mix, purple is the showstopper here in our Sweetie Pie, a graceful, whimsical piece that brings in the color but tempers its drama.
Spend your winter experimenting with Pantone’s forward-thinking Ultra Violet. It will likely be everywhere by next January.
