Stacey Hiraoka
Stacey Hiraoka, gift buyer and co-owner of Ah Sam Florist, is a mother of two daughters and also mom to a one-year-old Labrador named Stella. Stacey has this to share:
“Why do I love being a Mom? I love watching my kids grow and I enjoy nurturing them to be strong, independent, compassionate women. I love hanging out with my girls, from shopping to skiing to rock concerts – we do it all! My mother, Mayme Leong, inspires me to always be the best I can be. She is a very strong woman and I always appreciate her honesty and wit. She is extremely generous, always offering to help others, and enjoys giving to those who are less fortunate. She also takes very good care of herself both mentally and physically. I sure hope I look and feel as good as my mom when I am her age!”

Sue Smith
Team member Sue Smith shared this about being a mother and a grandmother. ” I just love being involved in my kid’s lives, no matter what it is. I loved sharing my feelings and helping them to be caring children, as well as to grow up to be responsible and caring parents.” Sue loves spending time with her grandchildren and just being a part of their lives, doing fun things together. It is, she says, “pure joy”.
Diana Filloux
Diana Filloux, who works in our accounting department, says “My Mom was my best friend and an incredible role model. However, until I became a mother, I never realized the complexity of fulfilling that role. No education or career success can prepare you for, or compare to, being a mother. There is nothing more painful than witnessing your children’s disappointments and not being able to fix them. There is nothing as exhilarating as watching your kids grow and learn, succeed and love. As I face an empty nest this coming year, I know that although there may be distance between us, nothing can change the relationships I have with my children. Like reading a good novel, I can’t wait to see what the next chapters bring in their careers and personal lives. My Mom set an example of savoring every moment with family. My goal is to do the same.
