4th of July- A Colorful, Patriotic Day

4th of July FlowersThe United States’ national colors as displayed on the American flag are, of course, red, white, and blue. But at the time the Betsy Ross’ design was adopted, the colors didn’t hold any meaning – they were simply the colors she chose (possibly because the British flag, most familiar to the settlers, used the same colors). But in 1782, when the Great Seal of the United States was revealed, the iconic color scheme was assigned a meaning that the founding fathers thought most reflected the American spirit – red symbolized bravery, white reflected innocence and purity, and blue stood for perseverance, freedom and constant vigilance.

A common use of flowers on the Fourth of July is similar to that of Memorial Day – wreaths or floral sprays are often created in red, white and blue flowers to commemorate the service of a loved one. However, Ah Sam Florist can also supply vibrant and fun displays to decorate family gatherings.
