International Women’s Day has been a big deal since 1909, and thereafter been celebrated around the world. Designed to honor the achievements and advance the goals of women, IWD is an excellent day to show appreciation and support for the women in your life. It’s become de riguer to send gifts of flowers or chocolate in an effort to do just that, and we here at Ah Sam Florist have just the floral design in mind for that.

We’ve selected All of Me as an example of the kind of piece you can send because it makes use of the color purple. There are three colors associated with IWD these days: purple, green and yellow. The first two have long been tied to women’s fight for equality, and the latter is a relatively new addition to the IWD spectrum, replacing white as the hue that suggests newness and progress.
